BOARD TO MEET THIS WEEK IN LEWISTON

The Idaho State Board of Education will hold its October Regular Board meeting this week on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) in Lewiston.

The meeting will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, October 18-19 starting at 9 a.m. Pacific Time both days at LCSC’s Williams Conference Center, and will be carried livestream on LCSC’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@lcstate

Agenda items include:

  • Consider recommendations made by the Empowering Parents Advisory Panel to expand eligible goods and services available for purchase using Empowering Parents grants.

  • Consider recommendations for clarifying Board procedures used to issue Emergency Provisional Certificates for teachers.

  • The Board will be sitting as the Board of Trustees for Lewis-Clark State College and time is set allotted during the meeting for the Board to hear from LCSC students, faculty and staff.

  • The Board will also hear findings and recommendations of a year-long study into the current and forecasted supply and demand for engineers and computer science professionals in Idaho’s workforce.  The study was headed by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) partnering with Idaho employers and leaders in industry, energy, technology and education.
