City of Lewiston Announces Hydrant Flushing Project

The City of Lewiston will be conducting hydrant flushing throughout the Lewiston Water System from September 8th to 11th, and again from September 15th to 18th. Crews will be working nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

During this period, you may notice some discoloration in your drinking water. However, the water is safe to drink. To clear any discoloration, simply run a cold tap until the water runs clear. Be sure to check your hot water for any discoloration before using it for laundry.

You may also experience temporary low water pressure while the hydrants are being flushed.

We ask that all residents, particularly drivers, exercise caution during this time, as there may be water on the roadways.

Hydrant flushing is an important process that helps clean the water mains, measure hydrant flows, and assess the mechanical condition of our fire hydrants
