Cottonwood Man Located, Charged with Eluding Following Pursuit

GRANGEVILLE – On February 9, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Idaho County Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a suicidal male subject in the city of Cottonwood, Idaho.

The Cottonwood City Police and Idaho County Sheriff’s Deputies responded.

Upon arrival by law enforcement, the male subject fled the scene and would not yield to the deputy’s lights.

The male continued from Cottonwood toward the Stites/Kooskia area to Highway 12. Where he, once again, failed to yield to emergency lights. The pursuit was discontinued, and a warrant was obtained for felony eluding.

The vehicle and male subject were later located up Selway Road near Selway Falls.

After several hours, the male was taken into custody without incident.

Blake Black, age 36, of Cottonwood, Idaho was arrested on a warrant for felony eluding and felony possession of a firearm.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office extends its thanks to the Cottonwood City Police, the Grangeville City Police, the Idaho State Police, and the US Forest Service for their assistance with this incident.
