Five Local Idaho Girls High School Basketball Teams Made it to State!

Five local girls high school basketball teams made it to the state tournament that took place last weekend February 15th- 17th, 2024. Four of the teams placed top three.

2A Division: 

In the 2A Girls Division, Grangeville High School went into the tournament as the number one seed. They then beat Kellogg 62-43 in the first game. Unfortunately, they lost by one point in their next game against North Freemont with a final score of 43-42. Their last game was played against Cole Valley High School in an attempt to take third place. Grangeville lost with the final score of 49-38.

The top three teams in the 2A Division are:

1st- Bear Lake High School

2nd- North Freemont High School

3rd- Cole Valley High School

1A DI Division: 

In the 1A DI Girls Division, Prairie High School went into the tournament as the number five seed. They then beat Murtaugh 65-54 in the first game. Unfortunately, they lost their next game against Grace High School with a final score of 56-52. Their last game was played against Oakley High School in an attempt to take third place. Prairie took third in the tournament with the final score of 60-41.

Lapwai High School went into the tournament as the number three seed. They then swept Valley High School with a final score of 64-27 in the first game. They went on win their next game against Oakley High School with a final score of 44-32, putting them in the championship game. They played Grace High School for the title of champion and the game went into overtime in the last three seconds. Lapwai lost 47-40 in overtime and took second place in the division.

The top three teams in the 1A DI division are:

1st- Grace High School

2nd- Lapwai High School

3rd- Prairie High School

1A DII Division: 

In the 1A DII Girls Division, Deary High School went into the tournament as the number four seed. They then beat Mackay High School 54-43 in the first game. Unfortunately, they lost their next game against Dietrich High School with a final score of 29-26. Their last game was played against Council High School in an attempt to take third place. Deary took third in the tournament with the final score of 44-39.

Kendrick High School went into the tournament as the number two seed. They then swept Leadore High School with a final score of 57-24 in the first game. They went on win their next game against Council High School with a final score of 57-44, putting them in the championship game. They played Dietrich High School for the title of champion. Kendrick won 55-53 in overtime taking the title of champion.

The top three teams in the 1A DII division are:

1st- Kendrick High School

2nd- Dietrich High School

3rd- Deary High School

 

Good job to all the local Idaho teams that played last weekend in the Championship Tournament.
