(LEWISTON, ID) – Warrior history was made when coach Sydnee Soderberg inked the first group of cheerleaders to the newly established LC State Cheer program for the 2024-25 season. The group will not compete in 2024-25, but will be on the Warrior sidelines as the program builds for the future. The group includes local products from Lewiston and Orofino, as well as a student-athlete from Buhl. Evelynn Chaney, a Warrior dancer last season, was the first cheer team commit in the program’s history.

“I am super excited to get the competitive cheer program up and running,” Soderberg said. “I am confident that we will be able to grow this program exponentially in the next few years. Vanesa, Kora, Cheyenne, Caitlin, and Evelynn all have invaluable roles within this program and are working so hard to help pave the way for its future.”

Chaney is native of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and committed to the cheer team after competing with Warrior Dance in its inaugural 2023-24 season. She helped the cheer team at Bonners Ferry High School place first in show and stunt at districts and second in pom.

“Evelynn has been an amazing leader so far this year,” Soderberg said. “I appreciate the experience she gained with dance last year and I am so excited for her to thrive in cheerleading this year.”

Kora Albrecht is the first cheerleader from Lewiston to sign with the program. The former Bengal competed for Soderberg in high school and helped elevate the program to success it had never seen. She helped the Bengals to multiple State appearances and went to USA Cheer Nationals in 2022.

Orofino’s Caitlin Montez and Cheyenne Reilly also signed with the team after cheering for the Maniacs. Both were voted Most Dedicated by their peers at Orofino and helped the teams qualify to State multiple times.

Buhl, Idaho, native Vanesa Serna is known locally for her involvement as a coach at Valley Cheer. She cheered at Buhl High School for four years and helped her team qualify for State twice. The LC State senior played a key role in helping Valley Cheer win the Best of the Northwest for cheer/gymnastics gyms.
