EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University controlled the contest on Saturday when LC State Volleyball visited the Beacons for a Cascade Conference matchup. The Warriors fells to Bushnell 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-14).

The loss drops the LC State record to 9-6 on the season and 6-4 in Cascade Conference play. Bushnell improves to 11-6 on the year and 6-3 in the CCC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ella Stosich gave the Warriors their first lead of the match with an ace at 2-1, but Bushnell pulled ahead, aided by multiple runs, to gain a 14-6 advantage. Bushnell service aces and Warrior errors pushed the score to 19-9 and carried the momentum to a 25-14 score in the set.

A solo block by Hallie Seaman and kill by Juliauna Forgach Aguilar had the score tied 3-3 early in the second frame. A block by Anna Merrill and kill by Taylor Boyce put the Warriors in front 6-5, but the Beacons rallied to take control with a 16-10 lead. Forgach Aguilar struck for back-to-back kills to cut the deficit to 16-12 before another Bushnell run made the difference 20-13. Trailing 25-13, LC State struck for four straight points with kills by Boyce and a block by Lindner and Boyce to make the score 23-19, but back-to-back BU points closed out the frame 25-19.

Four kills by Forgach Aguilar in the early part of the third set had the Warriors within three, 8-5, but the Beacons kept the momentum from the first two frames and quickly pulled away 20-7. Lindner, Missy Mortensen, Forgach Aguilar and Boyce added kills and Mortensen put up a block to cut the difference to 23-14, but Bushnell rattled off a pair of kills to end the match with a 25-14 win in the set.

STAT RECAP

Forgach Aguilar tied for the match-high with 13 kills and Boyce added nine. Esther Kailiponi dealt 12 assists and Natany Felix Guimaraes collected 19 digs for a match-best.

The Warriors collected one more dig than the Beacons, 47-46, but Bushnell controlled the service line with 11 aces.

Warrior Volleyball heads home next weekend to host College of Idaho on Oct. 4 and No. 2 Eastern Oregon on Oct. 5.
