KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three LC State Dance student-athletes earned Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, marking the first round of award winners for the new program.

To be named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better. Students must have attended their current institution for at least one year.

Senior Carely Melena led the group as a Paralegal Studies major with a minor in Pre-Law. Sophomores Kaylee Howe and McKenzie Davis also met the criteria for the award.

“Carely’s dedication, positive attitude, strong work ethic and quiet example is integral in laying the solid foundation for our newly minted dance program,” coach Christa Davis said. “McKenzie and Kaylee are cherished cornerstones for the future, leading by example on the floor and in the classroom. It is an absolute privilege to spend time nurturing and to gain insights from these impressive dance athletes.”
