Lewiston Pilot Escapes Helicopter Crash With Minimal Injuries

At approximately 11:23 AM the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a helicopter, that had been fertilizing fields, clipped powerlines, and crashed near Harvest Moon Lane in the Harvest Vista Sub-division east of Lewiston. Upon arrival, Deputies were able to locate the crash site near the edge of a field on the rim of a canyon. The pilot, 32-year-old Lewiston resident, Drew Oharra was able to escape the helicopter with minor injuries.

The crash also caused a power outage to approximately 15 homes around Harvest Moon.  Avista crews are currently working to restore power to the area.  It is estimated that power will be returned by 11:30 pm this evening. The FAA responded to the scene and will be investigating the cause of the crash.
