Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests Announces Buddie Carroll’s Selection as Palouse District Ranger

KAMIAH, Idaho:— On December 27, 2023, Buddie Carroll was selected as the permanent district ranger for the Palouse District of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Carroll has thirty years of experience in natural resource management in federal, state, and private sector settings. Forest Supervisor Cheryl Probert said: ““Buddie brings a wealth of knowledge from different areas and organizations to this position on the Palouse where so much of the Forest’s land is mixed with other ownerships having different missions. His recent experience as Silviculturist on the Forest Plan Revision team will help lead us into a future of managing our National Forests for resilience in the face of insects and disease, wildfire, and a changing climate.”

Carroll stated about his new position: “ I have been on the Nez Perce-Clearwater, forest plan revision team for the last four-plus years and can now see that journey coming to a fruitful conclusion. The Nez Perce-Clearwater is a dynamic Forest with many great employees as well as opportunities for responsive management solutions. In my new role, I look forward to working with the Palouse staff and the Forest Leadership Team and continuing to serve both the Agency and our communities.”

In his free time, Carroll, “enjoys the landscapes and recreational opportunities North Idaho has to offer. My wife Nancy and I’s days are filled with the typical chores associated with managing a modest ranch operation and tending our forest stands. Nothing beats kicking back at the end of the day and having the satisfaction of getting something done.”
