North Idaho Man Sentenced for Possessing Child Sexual Material

[BOISE] – Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced that George Kevin Nolan, 49, was convicted of three counts of sexual exploitation of a child—a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.  Nolan was sentenced on April 17, 2024, by District Judge Richard Christensen.

Deputy Attorney General Madison Allen recommended the Defendant receive a ten-year prison sentence with two years fixed and eight years indeterminate.  Judge Christensen suspended the ten-year sentence and instead placed him on probation for four years and ordered that Nolan spend 180 days in jail.  Nolan was also ordered to pay $2,045.50 in court fees. Additionally, Nolan will now have to register as a sex offender pursuant to Idaho law.

“I am very proud of the work our ICAC Unit and prosecutors have done to protect children across Idaho,” said Attorney General Labrador. “They have invested in solid relationships with local prosecutors and law enforcement agencies that are critical for keeping our communities safe from predators and abusers.”

In May 2023 through July 2023, while undercover detectives with the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit were monitoring peer-to-peer networks, they learned that Nolan was downloading child sexual abuse material.  After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched Nolan’s home and computer and located over 2,000 images – including videos – of child sexual abuse material.
