Post-Election Audit Selection of Idaho Counties, Precincts

(Boise, Idaho) – Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane announced the Idaho counties and precincts selected for a post-election audit following the November 5, 2024 General Election. The random draw to select the counties and precincts was conducted today at the Idaho State Capitol by the Idaho Board of Canvassers, which includes Secretary McGrane, Controller Brandon Woolf, and Treasurer Julie Ellsworth.

Under Idaho Statute, the Secretary of State conducts a post-election audit to ensure the accuracy of the election results tabulation for even-year primary and general elections. Audit teams consisting of Secretary of State staff and Boise State University honors accounting students will visit the selected counties and perform a hand count of the general election ballots to compare with the canvassed election results. The public and media are welcome to attend the audits. The eight counties selected for audit and the scheduled audit dates are listed below and may be found on VoteIdaho.gov.

“Following a record-setting election statewide with over 900,000 Idahoans casting their ballots, this post-election audit is a crucial step in upholding transparency and trust in our process,” said Secretary of State Phil McGrane. “By ensuring that each of these votes are is counted accurately, we reinforce the integrity of our election system, giving Idahoans confidence that their voices are heard and every vote truly counts.”
