(Pullman, WA) A rape case against a Washington State University student has been dropped after new information was presented by the defense.
21-year-old Jayce Carnahan was charged with rape and assault after a female student accused him of raping her during a fraternity party last May. Whitman County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Tessa Scholl recently dropped the case after receiving new information from Carnahan’s private defense attorney out of Seattle. Scholl says the new details meant her case was no longer provable to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt. Scholl tells Pullman Radio News that she still believes the victim. She has since left WSU. Carnahan was kicked out of his fraternity. He is still listed as a WSU student.
