Sex Offender Taken Arrested in Southern Idaho After Violating Terms of Release

(Boise, ID) The U.S. Marshals Service in Boise has located and arrested Brandon Poisel on an active arrest warrant issued in U.S. District Court on December 26, 2024, for violation of terms and conditions of his supervised release.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Poisel was previously convicted in 2017 for possession of sexually explicit images of minors and, the transfer of obscene materials to a minor, both felony violations. A federal judge in Pocatello sentenced Poisel to 96 months in a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Poisel was released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons to the Boise area in July 2024. On December 27, 2024, Poisel was spotted by members of the Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force walking in the 2300 block of West Overland Road in Boise. An arrest operation was executed and Poisel was taken into custody without incident.

The U.S. Marshals Great Idaho Fugitive Task Force is a state-wide cooperative to locate and arrest violent state and federal fugitives. Member agencies who work together with the U.S. Marshal Service throughout the State of Idaho are the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell Police Department, Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Idaho State Police, Idaho Department of Corrections, Kootenai County
Sheriff’s Office, Nampa Police Department, and the Pocatello Police Department.
