LEWISTON – Lewis-Clark State College professors of political science, Kylee Britzman and Leif Hoffmann, invite students ages 12 and older to the third annual Consent of the Governed: Student Democracy Day on Aug. 1

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at various locations on and off campus, beginning at the Student Union Building/Center for Student Leadership (SUB/CSL). Transportation will be provided to other locations of the event.

The event will include various activities, a visit to the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory, and discussions led by Lewiston Mayor Dan Johnson and Lewiston Tribune editor and publisher Nathan Alford. Students will also be touring the Lewiston Tribune. The day-long event allows students to get a look at the democratic process and learn more about the history of the Lewis-Clark Valley.

Britzman and Hoffmann hope students learn more about how democracy/society operates at the local level, familiarize themselves with the political process, and consider political science as a future field of study.

Students interested should register by 5 p.m. on July 29 by emailing Britzman (kjbritzman@lcsc.edu) or Hoffmann (lshoffmann@lcsc.edu). Participating students are also asked to bring a sack lunch for the event. The schedule is as follows:
