Truck Total Loss After Accident Causes Vehicle Fire on Downriver Road

Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched at 4:18 PM for a vehicle fire on Downriver Road just east of the State Line. Arriving crews found a truck that had run off the road into the ditch on the north side of the roadway. The truck and surrounding brush was fully involved in the fire.

Crews extinguished the truck and surrounding brush and bushes. The incident took just over one hour.

The department responded with 2 structural engines, 1 ambulance, 1 rescue unit, 1 chief officer, 2 fire inspectors, a water tender, and the chief officer from Asotin County totaling 13 personnel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage Loss: The truck was a complete loss.

Injuries: The driver of the vehicle, who was transported by ambulance to the hospital, was injured as a result of the impact and not the fire.
