Started in 2016, Vandal Giving Day is a largely online event that raises funds for scholarships, colleges and programs across the university. In honor of U of I’s founding year, the event runs for 1,889 minutes and celebrates the impact of philanthropy at the university.

With 2,324 gifts from donors in 41 states, plus Canada, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Iceland, Ireland and the U.K., the number of gifts also set a new record with an increase of 505 over Vandal Giving Day 2023.

“We are grateful for the many individuals and organizations that chose to make a difference for our hard-working students and high-quality programs during Vandal Giving Day,” U of I President Scott Green said. “It’s inspiring to see the worldwide Vandal Family come together in this way to make a powerful impact for our university and our state.”

Most Vandal Giving Day donors are U of I alumni. Other donors include foundations and organizations such as Optum Idaho.
