Univeristy of Idaho’s student Caden Young passes away during Spring Break

Moscow, ID- A memo was sent out to University of Idaho students by the Dean of Students and Vice Provost for Student Affairs Blaine Eckles on Thursday. The memo includes “This has understandably been a difficult year for the Vandal Family, with the loss of several students since the start of the academic year last August,” Eckles said. “Please make sure to take care of yourself and others. As a community, we collectively mourn Caden’s death and share our deepest condolences with his family and friends who are most impacted by his passing.”

In addition the School of Journalism and Mass Media, Univeristy of Idaho posted the following statement on Facebook:

“Unfortunately, we must share the sad news of the passing of Caden Young, who was a journalism major in his junior year at the University of Idaho. Caden wrote for the Argonaut in 2021, and he was pursuing his interest in reporting on human rights and geopolitical issues. He was a member and past president of fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda. The School of Journalism and Mass Media extend our sincerest condolences to Caden’s family and friends”.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reported that Young wasn’t in Moscow and was out of town on spring break when he passed away.
