(LEWISTON, ID) – The men of Warrior Tennis started their 2024-25 campaign with a 5-2 victory over the visiting University of Alberta Golden Bears and a match that lasted late into Friday night. With the final score coming in at just after midnight, the Warriors will be back to work in just over 12 hours in the final match of the fall.
LC State earned the doubles point after wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Austin Swing joined forces with Alvaro Camino for a 6-4 win in the second slot, while Pablo Herrera and Nell Rollin picked up a victory of the same score in the third spot.
Alberta took the top two matches in singles play, but four individual wins helped the Warriors take home the first victory of the season.
Gautam Balakrishnan earned his first win as a Warrior with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in No. 3 singles. Rollin picked up a three-set win over his opponent in fourth singles by scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Herrera and Camino brought the match to a close when both picked up sweeps for their first singles wins of the season. Herrera took the No. 5 match 7-5, 6-2 and Camino won No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-1.
