ASHLAND, Ore. – LC State Volleyball closed out the Cascade Conference weekend with a contest at No. 19 Southern Oregon. The Raiders swept the Warriors by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-13.
The Warriors sit at 3-7 on the season and 2-3 in CCC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SOU took control early in the first set with a 4-1 lead before Karissa Lindner tallied the first kill of the match for the Warriors at 6-3. LC State notched three straight points with a kill by Kierstyn York and blocks by Missy Mortensen, Juliauna Forgach Aguilar and Anna Merrill to stay within two at 10-8. Freshman Gianna Anderson tallied a kill before assisting Lindner on a block to pull LC within one, 13-12, but SOU surged ahead to take the set 25-16.
The first Warrior point in the second frame came on a Raider service error, and kills by Anderson kept LC within three at 6-3. SOU pulled ahead 15-7 before back-to-back kills by Katie Rainville and Lindner cut the deficit to 15-9. The Warriors fought off a set point with three straight points on a kill by Rainville, block by Rainville and Merrill and ace by Makenzie Stout before the Raiders closed out the 25-17.
Kills by Lindner and Forgach Aguilar helped the Warriors out to a 3-0 start in the third set, but the lead was quickly erased by three SOU points. Forgach Aguilar put LC State back in front with a kill at 4-3 before the Raiders jumped out to an 11-7 advantage. SOU ended the match with a 25-13 third set.
Forgach Aguilar led the Warriors with eight kills while Anderson and Lindner each added five. Sofie Langer dealt 10 assists and Kenzie Dean collected 12 digs to move her to 1,420 in her career.

The Warriors return to Lewiston next weekend to host No. 5 Corban and Bushnell in the P1FCU Activity Center.
