CALDWELL – Warrior Volleyball opened up a tough road trip on Friday in a three-set contest with in-state rival College of Idaho. The Yotes ran an efficient offense with a .255 attack percentage.
LC State is now 3-10 on the season and 2-6 in Cascade Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A service ace by Abbey Neff started the match before kills by Hallie Seaman and Anna Merrill had the Warriors up 3-1. C of I made it a back-and-forth battle and kept the match within a point before the Yotes widened the gap with a run at 20-15. The Warriors had kills by Kierstyn York, Gianna Anderson, Merrill and Juliauna Forgach Aguilar down the stretch but dropped the opening frame 25-18.
Anderson opened the second set with a kill, and a block by Forgach Aguilar and Seaman made it 2-0. The Yotes rallied to take a 10-4 lead. C of I stretched its advantage to 16-7 to gain control before cruising to a 25-14 final in the set.
College of Idaho shot out to a 7-1 lead in the third set. Kills by Forgach Aguilar and Karissa Lindner, as well as a block by Lindner and Neff, cut the difference to 9-4. A swing by Anderson made it a three-point deficit at 11-8, but another surge by the Yotes stretched the margin to 17-10. A kill by Merrill and ace by Anderson had the Warriors back within three, 17-14, but C of I closed out the match with a 25-20 set win.
Merrill and Forgach Aguilar led the Warriors with seven kills each while Neff dished out 18 assists. Lindner put up six blocks and Kenzie Dean collected nine digs.

The Warriors travel to La Grande on Saturday to take on top-ranked Eastern Oregon at 3 p.m.
