SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Lewis-Clark State Dance team performed in the Dordt Invitational and then in a dual competition against Dordt (Iowa) on Saturday.
credible day today. I couldn’t be more pleased with my dancers,” coach Christa Davis said. “Through sickness and nerves, they set things aside and focused on executing a clean piece.”
In the Dordt Invitational, the Warriors finished in eighth place but improved in all aspects from their first competitions. LC State scored 52.8 in a competition that featured multiple teams that finished in the top 10 in the 2023 NAIA Dance National Championship.
During the competition, the Warriors had 1.5 points of deductions, a vast improvement from the 10 and 12.5 points of deductions in January.
“This speaks volumes regarding the tremendous effort these women have put in the last two weeks,” Davis said.
The Warriors challenged themselves with a more difficult routine that consisted of 16 counts of synchronous turns to the choreography.
During the dual against Dordt, LC State improved its overall score to 55.3.
“Today we gained high praise for our creative choreography that allowed each woman on the team to shine,” Davis said.
