Warrior Golf Wraps Up First Tournament of the Week

3/6/2024 | Randy Isbelle | Sports Information Intern
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Lewis-Clark State Men’s and Women’s Golf teams concluded play at the RMC Intercollegiate tournament with round three on Wednesday at the Reflection Bay Golf Club. Both teams finished seventh in their fields in the first tournament of the spring.

“Another tough day on the course,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “This is a tough place to find a groove, but there were definitely positives to take from this. Every time we can get tournament experience with this young group, it helps. A quick turnaround for our event this weekend.”

THE MEN

Bryden Brown collected two birdies and two bogies in his final round to shoot a second consecutive even-72 to finish the tournament 7-over in a tie for 12th. Owen Pearson had four birdies in his best round of the tournament. Pearson finished with a 6-over, 78 in the final round and finished in 33rd.

LC State held on to the seventh-place position with a team round score of 308 and a tournament total of a 60-over, 924. The Warriors finished 52 strokes behind top teams No. 3 British Columbia and No. 4 OUAZ.

THE WOMEN

The No. 23 Warriors were one stroke shy of passing (RV) Victoria (B.C.) for sixth place after a 50-over, 338 team score in the final round and an even 1,000 in the tournament. No. 1 British Columbia ran away with the competition shooting 29-over, 893 to win the event by 36 strokes.

Kyla Currie hit birdies on Nos. 3, 6 and 14 en route to a team-low 5-over, 77. The effort pushed the senior up eight spots on the leaderboard into 23rd place. Deana Caruso was the highest finishing Warrior in a tie for 18th place.
