Beachview Toddler Trek set for Saturday, July 20

June 25, 2024

Clarkston, WA – The Beachview Toddler Trek is set for Saturday, July 20 from 10 am to 12 pm at Beachview Park in Clarkston.

This free event is for parents and their toddlers and pre-schoolers to participate in a variety of movement activities like tunnel crawls, ball tosses, bubble station, a balloon run, and a free book (while supplies last). Take your photo with Posie from Patt’s Garden Center and listen to the newly released “P” is for Posie book by Kate Patterson. Charlie, The Therapy Dog, will be on hand to offer some puppy love. Snacks will be available for Toddler Trek participants.

Books and reading are a theme at this event. It’s a fun and free way to start your toddler on the path to learning success as part of Asotin County Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. By reading to your child, you provide them with a deep understanding about their world and fill their brains with background knowledge. They then use this acquired knowledge to make sense of what they see, hear, and read, which aids their cognitive development.

“We wanted to have a fun family-oriented summer event in the valley,” says Jan Goodheart, Special Projects for Asotin County Library Foundation. “We’ll have over a dozen stations for toddlers to jump, crawl, balance, punch, blow bubbles….just simple fun for everyone.”

The event is sponsored by Asotin County Community Services Birth to Three Program, Asotin County Library, Asotin County Library Foundation, and LCCU. The Birth to Three Program offers free developmental screenings for children who may be experiencing developmental delays or disabilities. It is funded through Washington Developmental Disabilities Administration, Department of Children, Youth and Family Services, and Special Education Funding from OSPI. If you have concerns about your child’s development, call the Family Resource Coordinator at (509) 780-7420 or visit birthtothreeprogram.com to find out more and schedule a free screening.
