(Pullman, WA) A Washington State University fraternity has been suspended pending an investigation into several allegations including hazing.
According to a recent post on the WSU website the Alpha Sigma Phi house is being investigated for an incident from last fall. The allegations include hazing, physical harm, reckless endangerment and alcohol and drug violations. According to the webpage the Alpha Sigma Phi house is currently suspended from all chapter activities. The same house was sanctioned in 2000 for hazing, alcohol and drug violations.
The State of Washington’s “Sam’s Law” requires WSU to publicly report information online about allegations of Greek Row violations. The law was crafted after WSU student Sam Martinez died in 2019 of alcohol poisoning following an Alpha Tau Omega party. The Washington State Court of Appeals recently found WSU liable in Martinez’s death.
