(Lewiston, ID) – Lewis-Clark State Baseball duo Brandon Cabrera and Carter Booth made history on Tuesday when the pair became the first Warrior Baseball players to earn CSC Academic All-American honors in the same season. Cabrera earned first-team honors while Booth was voted to the second team. Both maintained perfect 4.0 grade point averages and both were voted All-Cascade Conference.
The two are the first CSC Academic All-Americans for LC State Baseball since Jack Johnson in 2021 and the third and fourth in program history. Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards. The top student-athletes move on to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by members of College Sports Communicators.
“Absolutely thrilled for both Brandon and Carter to receive the prestigious honor of CSC Academic All-American,” Head Coach Jake Taylor said. “Their commitment and success on the diamond and in the classroom is phenomenal and we could not be more excited for both of them. Very well deserved.”
Cabrera, the second CSC First-Team Academic All-American in program history, had a standout first season with the Warriors. The junior from Aloha, Ore., was the only LC State player to appear in all 51 games. He led the team in batting average (.362), OPS (1.102), hits (68), on-base percentage (.469) and stolen bases (22-for-23). The outfielder scored 58 runs and drove in 40 and was second on the team with 20 doubles and 13 home runs. Cabrera heads into his senior year with a 4.0 GPA as a Computer Science major.
Booth graduated this spring with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in Business Communications after a stellar year for LC State. He started all 48 games he appeared in and led the Warriors in runs scored (61), hits (68), doubles (23), triples (3) and total bases (124). The outfielder was second on the team in batting average (.347), OPS (1.098), slugging (.633), on-base percentage (.465) and stolen bases (7). Booth hit nine home runs and drove in 42 runs. He was hit by 14 pitches in 2024 to move up to eighth all-time in the Warrior record book with 31 hit-by-pitches in his career.
Cabrera and Booth join Oregon Tech’s Tyler Horner, the Academic All-America Team member of the Year, as the only representatives from the Cascade Conference.
