CLARKSTON HIGH SCHOOL AFJROTC UNIT EARNS “SILVER STAR” FOR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE

Clarkston, Washington – The Clarkston High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) Unit, led by Technical Sergeant Doug Lincoln, has been honored with the prestigious “Silver Star” Community Service with Excellence Award for the academic year 2022-2023.

In pursuit of its mission to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community,” the AFJROTC program places a strong emphasis on community service. This award, recognizing the top 5% of all AFJROTC units globally in terms of community service, underscores the significance of service in shaping cadets and positively impacting their schools, communities, and the nation.

Colonel John McGonigal, USAF, remarked, “It’s not just about ‘hours’; it is about the positive impact that these hours represent.”

Key Achievements:

  • Cadets from Clarkston High School contributed nearly 4,100 hours of community service during the year.
  • The Clarkston High School unit was among 44 units worldwide meeting the award criteria, out of a total of 870 AFJROTC units.
  • This achievement reflects the dedication of cadets, the guidance of instructors, and the support of the school and local community.

This remarkable accomplishment demonstrates the commitment of Clarkston High School AFJROTC to excellence in community service, and they are commended for earning this distinctive award. Congratulations to the cadets, instructors, and the entire school community for their outstanding efforts.
