LC State Warrior Men Rebound Against Corban

Alisha Alexander | LC State Assistant AD-Sports Information Director

SALEM, Ore. – Warrior Men’s Basketball bounced back in a big way on Saturday with an 82-64 victory over Corban University. Sam Stockton continued his breakout season with a career-high 19 points to lead the team, and Jaedon Bradley notched a double-double with a career-best 14 rebounds to go with 11 points.

Six LC State Warriors scored in double-figures in the contest where the team shot 55.9% from the field. LC won the rebound battle 39-24.

“Great bounce-back win for our guys after a poor showing last night. It was cool to see them respond well collectively,” Head Coach Austin Johnson said. “We really defended all night against a team that’s been scoring it well lately. Sam had a phenomenal game and seemed to make the right decision every time down the floor. Alton (Hamilton) and AP (Peoples Jr.) were a force inside along with JB (Bradley) owning the rebounds. Two huge home games ahead as we also celebrate this awesome trio of seniors.”

The win improves the LC State record to 17-7 overall and 15-3 in Cascade Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bradley posted the first LC State points before Stockton, Anthony Peoples Jr. and Davian Brown rattled off eight straight points to give LC a 10-4 lead at 13:16.

Corban tied the score 18-18 at 10:12 and the LC State Warriors rallied to pull ahead in the next two minutes. A layup by Stockton sparked the run of 10 that was capped by back-to-back 3s by Quentin Raynor for a 26-18 advantage.

Alton Hamilton scored 10 points in the final seven minutes and John Lustig joined in to give the visiting Warriors a 38-32 lead at the break.

Bradley hit a 3 to open the second half before the two Warrior teams traded basket throughout the first five minutes. Tallies by Brown, Hamilton, Stockton and Bradley kept the margin at nine, 49-40, and foul shots by Raynor pushed the lead to double-digits at 51-40 by 14:43.

Bradley capped an 11-0 run with another 3 after baskets by Stockton and Peoples Jr. to give the LC Warriors a 58-40 cushion with 12:52 to play. Stockton sparked another run, this time of 10, with baskets from Gorden Boykins and Bradley to make it 71-45 by 7:53.

Peoples Jr. scored on back-to-back possessions, including a dunk, and Lustig added a layup at the 3:31 mark for a 79-54 advantage.

Stockton closed out the scoring on his career night for the 82-64 final score.

Stockton led the contest with his career-best 19 points, Hamilton scored 12, Bradley and Raynor tallied 11 each and both Brown and Peoples Jr. added 10. Bradley led the defense with 14 rebounds.
