LEWISTON – On July 2, 2024 at about 2:12 p.m., Nez Perce County deputies were dispatched to a home in the 900 block of Larch Lane just outside Lewiston. The caller reported a male in the home had pointed a pistol at them and fired off two rounds.
Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office reported that when deputies arrived on scene, they were unable to make contact with the suspect inside the home. The neighboring homes were evacuated and the 800 block of Lapwai Road was closed for about three hours.
The Lewiston SWAT team was mobilized and eventually made entry into the home. According to a media release, once inside they found 59-year-old Ronald Klemm. Klemm had what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Klemm was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where he is being treated.
The case is still under investigation by Nez Perce County deputies.
