LEWISTON – U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) will present the Spirit of Idaho Award to the Idaho Animal Rescue Network (IARN) at Fur Family Cinema, 3323 10th Street, Lewiston, Idaho, at 1:00 PM PT on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

IARN is a 501(c) (3) non-profit in Idaho that works to curb animal cruelty in Idaho.

“I applaud the continuing efforts of the Idaho Animal Rescue Network to provide safe and happy homes for Idaho pets across the Lewis Clark Valley,” said Crapo.  “It is thanks to their efforts that hundreds of animals a year are given a new lease on life.”

Over the summer, 25 Great Danes were rescued from an animal hoarding situation in Lewiston.  The Idaho Animal Rescue Network facilitated veterinary care and placement in shelters throughout Idaho.

“The Idaho Animal Rescue Network is a community organization,” said IARN Director Jenna Redheart.  “It takes many people to make it work, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the LC Valley.  The Great Danes case is a great example of teamwork.  The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Lewiston Police Department, Lewiston Fire Department, Fur Family Cinema, Southway Animal Clinic, Riverview Animal Clinic, Lewis Clark Animal Shelter, multiple other animal rescues and community volunteers worked together and made this case a success.  We received donations from local community members and from around the nation.  Because of the community, the Great Danes will have a better life.”

The Spirit of Idaho Award was created by Crapo in 2000 to honor the acts of service by Idahoans for their commitment to improving their community and serving their fellow citizens.  Crapo has presented more than 600 Spirit of Idaho Awards since the award’s inception.
