KEY MESSAGE:
Utilizing an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and infrared analytics, incident resources utilized targeted Fireline tactics on the remaining hot spots on the Billy Creek Fire. Areas of concern included smoldering stump holes and a small, unburned area that is well within the fire perimeter. Interagency Hotshot Crews have worked the areas of concern thoroughly and continue to monitor the fire perimeter for areas of concern.
CURRENT STATUS:
In addition to working areas identified in proximity to the Fireline, incident personnel patrolled and shuttled equipment along the Snake River corridor. Crews working on the fire’s east side monitored and improved fire lines and performed suppression repair work. Today’s forecasted windy conditions will provide a good test of the effectiveness of fire line suppression work completed to date.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR:
An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect across the fire area through today, Wednesday, July 10th. A breakdown of the ridge pattern is expected late tomorrow, with wind gusts up to 30 mph forecasted in the evening. Temperatures and humidity tomorrow will be in the 100s, with RH near 10%.
