(Pullman, WA) The 33-year-old Pullman man accused of raping a young girl is now facing four additional felonies.
Lane Taylor Hunting Smith was arrested by Pullman Police on Monday on one count of felony 1st degree child rape. The arrest came after officers received a report that Smith had allegedly raped a young girl multiple times and then police interviewed the victim. The Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office charged Smith with three more child rape counts and one child molestation count Friday. Senior Deputy Prosecutor Tessa Scholl told the court that the charges were added based on video evidence from Smith’s phone.
Smith pleaded not guilty to all five counts during his arraignment Friday in Whitman County Superior Court. If convicted he could spend life in prison. He denied the allegations to officers just before he was arrested. Smith is scheduled to be back in court in March. He remains in custody in the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a half a million dollars bond.
