CANTON, Ga. – The Lewis-Clark State Women’s Tennis team took a 7-0 loss to Reinhardt (Ga.) at the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational at the Bridgemill Athletic Club on Friday.
The loss dropped the Warrior record to 3-10 on the season.
“A good but rough day for the women,” coach Kai Fong said. “Good that we got more valuable match experience. Good that we added another building block to the team foundation. Rough in that the Reinhardt Eagles took it to us up and down the lineup.”
Heidi Moyo dropped her opening set 6-3 in No. 4 singles before she bounced back and swept the second-set tiebreaker over Nina Thomet. Moyo took the loss in the third-set modified tiebreaker 10-6.
Anne Mathema pushed her match to a third set in No. 6 singles. Elyse Standing earned the win for Reinhardt 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Maria Eduarda Santos da Silva and Lina Boylan had the strongest doubles performance. The duo pushed their No. 3 doubles contest to a 10th game in a 6-4 loss.
“Everything will click soon for us,” Fong said. “We just got to put in more work at home, in between match days.”
