Soderberg Tabbed to Lead LC State Dance and Cheer

August 12, 2024

(LEWISTON, ID)– Lewis-Clark State College and Warrior Athletics named an interim dance and cheer coach ahead of the 2024-25 season in Lewiston native Sydnee Soderberg.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Sydnee Soderberg on board as our interim dance/cheer coach,” LC State President Cynthia Pemberton said. “As an accomplished collegiate spirit student-athlete herself, and recognized competitive routine choreographer with nearly a half decade of coaching experience, Sydnee brings energy, enthusiasm and drive to the position. We have every confidence she will build on the strong dance program foundation established and lay an equally strong foundation for our next sport addition – competitive cheer!”

Soderberg will serve as an instrumental piece to help LC State lay the foundation of a competitive cheer program. The Warrior Cheer team will begin as a sideline group at LC State home games before transitioning to NAIA competition in the next few years. Warrior Dance completed its inaugural season as a competitive NAIA team in 2023-24 and looks to build off momentum created last year.

“There are so many exciting things happening at LC State,” Soderberg said. “I’m so excited to join the Warrior coaching staff because I have heard and experienced such amazing things here. All of the coaches are so passionate about their programs, and have been so welcoming to dance and cheer. LC State is incredibly community based, and I have seen all of the good things a strong program can do for this community. I cannot wait to see how these programs bloom.”

The graduate of Lewiston High School competed collegiately at Boise State and won a national title in 2018 before earning her degree from Lewis-Clark State. Soderberg helped build one of the top middle school and high school cheer programs in the state of Idaho as a coach at both Sacajawea Middle School and Lewiston High School. She helped lead SMS to wins at every competition it competed in during the last six years, and helped LHS to four straight district titles and a third-place overall finish at State.
